I.D.: I - AM.

Project in collaboration with Meyke Meyden

The installation reflects the concept of virtual identity as opposed to the tangible identity represented by artificial and organic matter.

The two worlds that overlap and coexist in parallel, but whose borders are blurred. We question their limits.

The virtual world is represented through elements of different languages (barcodes, digits and pixels etc.). These elements are directly related to the digital, virtual world, the world with which human beings develop growing confidence to interact.  We possess a virtual identity that informs, buys, sells, talks, and even uncovers its superficial life in social networks, taking refuge behind the pixelated screen.

We introduce the organic world through natural materials, such as wool and esparto, in such a way that generates an irregular and multiform element; this imitates the neuron ramifications, that could be a cell expanding, conquering its surroundings,  growing continuously, competing with the virtual world, trying to dominate it, breaking with its coded, and processed identity.

The human identity - is it shaped by both worlds?

The audio projects different voices in combined languages. These voices pray  a series of verbs  in first person  (I am , I do, I believe, I consume, I love...)  In their solitude, they are searching for their real identity, maybe trying to open a path in the standard data jungle...
